I believe you've heard of the clay spindle-wheel that hung, so many years ago, from the spindle of a distaff. One day, it decided it couldn't bear it anymore, and escaped through an open window... Well, that was the same night that it came to my bedroom.
"I know eight beautiful stories", it sang, and then spun around in front of me, perfectly round and shining bright.
I blew it a kiss and the spindle-wheel sparkled and flew up high above the clouds. But I saw it again.
I came to my bedroom, eight evenings in a row.
Every night, twirling round happily, it would tell me a story, and here they all are:

Η Μάνια Δούκα γεννήθηκε στην Αθήνα. Σπούδασε Παιδαγωγικά στην Αθήνα και την Αγγλία. Ειδικεύτηκε στη μουσειακή εκπαίδευση στο "Atelier des Enfants", Centre Georges Pompidou, στο Παρίσι. Εργάστηκε ως εκπαιδευτικός στο Αρσάκειο, το Κολλέγιο Ψυχικού και το Ελληνικό Κολλέγιο του Λονδίνου. Συνεργάστηκε με Μουσεία στην Αθήνα και την Κύπρο για τη δημιουργία εκπαιδευτικών προγραμμάτων και εντύπων. Από τις εκδόσεις Φυτράκη κυκλοφορούν τα βιβλία της: "Οι 10 ιστορίες του πήλινου σφονδυλιού" και "Ο Ναυαγός της Γλαύκης". Με χορηγία του Ιδρύματος Λεβέντη τα βιβλία: "Journey to Cyprus", "Tα δυο αινίγματα της Σφίγγας", "Ένας Άγγελος μια φορά", "Με τα φτερά της Αλκυόνης". Από τις εκδόσεις Μπίρη-Νέες Σελίδες το βιβλίο: "Ο Φίλιππος και τα μαγικά κρόταλα" (βραβείο Κύκλου Ελληνικού Παιδικού Βιβλίου).
