Η Σύρμω Καπούτση γεννήθηκε και μεγάλωσε στις Φέρες Έβρου. Αποφοίτησε από τη Φιλοσοφική Σχολή του Α.Π.Θ. το 1996. Εργάστηκε στην ιδιωτική εκπαίδευση και, από το 2001, στη δημόσια.
Τα τελευταία χρόνια ζει και εργάζεται στα Χανιά. Το παιδικό βιβλίο ήταν πάντα μέσα στα ενδιαφέροντά της. Έχει ασχοληθεί με την επιμέλεια παιδικών βιβλίων και διασκεύασε την ελληνική μυθολογία για παιδιά.
